And the company visits continue with startups Ideabove, VCNC, Memebox and Flitto!
Day 2 started off with a visit to Ideabove which develops a social music app called swizzle.fm that would enable people to network through their common love of music to share and discover music.
Ian, the founder of Ideabove and his team blew us away with their enthusiasm and readily shared many of their ideas and experiences with us and even introducing us to My Real Trip, another startup situated in the same building and whom were under the same acceleration program.
After the company visit, its off to more food as we went for some barbecued pork!
And of course, we couldn’t go a day without shopping in Seoul so we went to Ewah Womans University for some much needed retail therapy before we ended our day by watching Jump, a comic martial arts performance, but not before we grabbed some dinner and dessert in the form of Korea’s famous live octopus (check out the video here)!
After the highs of Day 2 we finished the last of our Korean company visits with VCNC, Memebox and Flitto!
Our first visit of the day was to VCNC, the company behind the widely popular couple’s app Between which has grown considerably since our last TSM visit!
Next up was Memebox, an online beauty brand that assembles beauty boxes consisting of products from Korea’s leading beauty companies. Although it was a busy day for them, they welcomed us into their office and shared a lot with us about their business model and best-selling Memeboxes.
With that, we headed down to the trendy Gangnam District for our final Korean company visit to Flitto, language translation platform that harnesses the power of crowdsourcing to perform translations! We were first treated to a tour around the newly built Maru180 which Flitto is housed at and were well entertained by Mr Simon Lee, the founder of Flitto during their presentation.
With all the Korean company visits behind us, our hungry hungry class arrived at Chilryang Korean Restaurant and Pottery Shop to feast on a traditional Korean king’s dinner, where the courses were plenty and we ate til we couldn’t, rounding off an awesome day of company visits!
